3 Must-Try MEME TEMPLATES for 2024 | Improve Your Content Marketing

Meme marketing still works.

As I promised in the last article, I scanned and researched through several meme templates.

While many of them are outdated, I found 3 that are great templates and still relevant this year.

So, in this article, I’ll share those 3 templates that you can use immediately after reading this.

And for each template, I’ll show you several examples to hopefully give you more ideas.

And at the end of this article, I’ll give you an opportunity where I create a couple of memes for you!

But before that, you’re probably wondering two things:

First: Are these meme templates suitable for different platforms or audiences?

The templates I’m about to show you are flexible enough to work perfectly well on all platforms whether you are posting on:

  1. Instagram
  2. Facebook
  3. LinkedIn
  4. X (formerly known as Twitter)
  5. Or anywhere else
  6. And no matter who’s seeing your memes

Second: Do these templates guarantee going viral?

Well, nothing can guarantee going viral.

However, these templates can drastically increase your chances of going viral because they’re designed to catch attention and entertain people.

How successful you are ultimately depends on additional factors such as:

  1. Timing
  2. Audiences
  3. And how creative you are

Now let’s move on to the three templates and I’ll show you how you can implement them starting from the back.

On rank 3, we have this meme here:

Meme #3: Distracted Boyfriend Meme

This classic meme features a man checking out another woman while his girlfriend looks at him disapprovingly.

This one is quite versatile and can be used to highlight the benefits of your brand’s advantages over your competitors/

Here are some examples:

In this one, it shows how the boy is tempted by Nikon, while his Canon camera doesn’t like that at all.

In this one, we have a comparison between Excel users who started to get interested in using Notion instead.

Now, what’s the logic behind this meme? How can you use this template for yourself?

Whenever there are two options to choose between, you could use this meme template.

It works even better if the chosen option is a bit controversial, or a secret. The guy making the choice will be your avatar.

Example:

So, let’s say you’re in the personal development niche. In this case, you could recreate this meme in this way:

The girlfriend represents your comfort zone. The guy, your avatar, is a stuck professional. The other woman could be a self-improvement workshop.

If you’re a life coach, do you think this meme would speak to your audience who feels stuck in a routine?

Let’s make another example for fitness coaches who work with clients online and virtually.

We start by asking ourselves:

  1. What are the two options?
  2. And which one is more controversial?

In this case, two options could be:

  1. Going to the gym
  2. Or follow along with fitness videos at home

Based on that, you can customize this meme in such a way:

  1. The Girlfriend represents the regular gym
  2. The Guy representing your avatar would be a busy mom
  3. The Other Woman is your offer like My 28-Day Fitness Challenge

If you were offering a 28-day fitness challenge, this meme would be an entertaining way to spread the word about it.

I hope you’re starting to see how you can tweak this meme template for your own content.

Meme #2: Two-Buttons Meme

On rank 2 is the Two-Buttons meme.

This meme is also about a dilemma between choices, however in this case it’s not about picking just one, it’s about wanting both choices simultaneously.

Here’s an example that many people can relate to:

Most of us have days when we want to be alone, but we also have days when we need social interaction.

This meme pokes fun at this dilemma, saying it’s okay to want both.

Let’s apply this to an email marketing example.

If you have an email list, a common choice is between sending out email blasts or creating personalized email campaigns.

So one button can say: “Sending out email blasts” and the other button can say: “Personalized email campaign”.

Let’s make one more example, this time for my fellow YouTubers.

If you’ve ever tried creating videos for YouTube, you know how hard it can be to stick to a consistent schedule.

But what’s the alternative? The alternative is to only post videos when you have the mood for it. In reality, though, most new YouTubers do both, which is why this meme template makes sense here.

  1. One button can say: “Making videos without a strategy”
  2. While the other button says: “Consistent video uploads”
  3. You can even tweak the second screen and say “My YouTube Channel” instead of just “Me”.

As you can see, once you play around with these templates, there are many ways how you can tweak them.

Let’s move on to rank 1 of the meme templates:

Meme #1: Woman Yelling At A Cat Meme

Why did I put this on rank 1? It’s because of the strong emotional reaction on the woman’s face. Meanwhile, the cat makes a calm impression in contrast.

How can you use this meme template?

Here are a few interesting ideas:

In this example here, just the placement of the comma changes the entire meaning and makes this a meme.

Or this one here for students.

To make this meme work, you’re looking for a common complaint that you can either counter with an argument or an excuse.

Let’s try tweaking it for a fitness coach example once again.

Many people have promised to start exercising, but their excuse is that they must be motivated first. Knowing about this situation, you can turn it into a meme like this:

If you’re a fitness coach, you could add:

  1. Freebies
  2. Offer
  3. Workshop

This way, the meme will get the attention and potentially go viral, and your offer is attached to it.

Let’s make one more quick example for a life coach.

See how it works?

There you have it, three meme templates that seem to go viral repeatedly, according to my research.

But there’s one new trend in memes that has started only recently… have you maybe spotted it already on social media?

It’s the: MET GALA MEMES.

Met Gala Memes

My social media feeds were almost flooded with them. Just search for “met gala memes” on Google, and see what pops up:

They trend every year, every time the Met Gala happens.

This is my final tip for you:

There are trends like this every year, for example, Halloween season or Christmas season. During those seasons, there are new and unique meme opportunities. Make sure you don’t miss out on such events that turn into meme-worthy opportunities.

Here are a couple of funny memes from this year’s Met Gala:

Now as I promised at the very start of this article, there’s an opportunity how I can create a couple of memes for you.

All you have to do is comment below this article with your niche and avatar. Then I will research a couple of scenarios that I believe would make funny memes for you.

And then in my next article, I’ll reveal the memes I’ve created for you. So write your niche and avatar in the comments and I’ll pick a random winner and create a couple of memes for you.

My Three Takeaways

  • Meme marketing remains effective and versatile across various platforms due to its universal appeal and ability to convey messages humorously and concisely.
  • Trend-based memes, such as those inspired by events like the Met Gala, can tap into current cultural moments, driving engagement and making content feel timely and relevant.
  • Customizing memes to cater to specific niches and audiences enhances their viral potential and marketing impact, as tailored content resonates more deeply and encourages sharing within targeted communities.
