Today I’m incredibly excited to share some gold from a recent conversation I had with Anthony Spark, a true anomaly in the world of business. You know, everyone talks about “grinding” and “hustling” on social media to build a business, but Anthony? He built a seven-figure network marketing empire without it. Yes, you read that right—no social media.

Naturally, I had to dive deep into his story. How did he do it, especially when so many attempt and fail, not just in network marketing, but in any business venture?

Success in a World of Failure

Anthony was quick to point out a universal truth: most people fail at whatever they try. Whether it’s small businesses, sports, or even network marketing, a small percentage truly succeed. But Anthony’s definition of success goes beyond just financial metrics. He believes that true fulfillment comes from passion and service. For him, it wasn’t about the Bugattis or yachts; it was about achieving financial stability and the freedom to choose how he spent his time.

His journey began at 18 when a friend told him about someone who retired at 28. This revelation struck a chord with Anthony, who realized he didn’t have to work his entire life. Despite the cynicism surrounding network marketing, he saw a glimmer of possibility: “What if it isn’t? What if there’s a potential that with the right opportunity, the right mentorship, the right guidance, the right system, that I could retire in my twenties?”

The Long Game: Consistency Over Quitting

Anthony retired from his full-time job at 25, a mere seven years after starting his network marketing journey. Seven years might seem like a long time to some, especially in our instant-gratification world. But to me, that’s an incredible display of consistency and dedication. Most people give up far sooner.

“The middle is tough,” Anthony admitted. “There’s a lot of hard times. You have to emotionally work through the feelings of wanting to quit, the feelings of going into the unknown, the feelings of continuing to push through.” This resonated deeply with me. Business, at its core, is a spiritual game. It’s about loving the process, loving where it’s going, and understanding that the real reward isn’t just the money or the trophy, but the person you become in the pursuit of it. As Anthony beautifully put it, “If it was faster, it was easier, you actually lose the most valuable thing, which is a person that you become in pursuit of.”

Mastering the Art of In-Person Connection

So, how exactly did Anthony build a massive business without logging onto Facebook or Instagram? He started before social media was a thing, and he simply had no other choice but to master the art of in-person connection.

He emphasized two key elements:

  1. Learning from the Successful: He humbly sought out those who had achieved what he desired, asking countless questions and putting himself in a posture of learning.
  2. Diligent Work: Anthony would talk to people everywhere—grocery stores, gas stations, gyms, events. It was about increasing the “incidence” of meeting people who might align with his offering.

Authenticity was paramount. It wasn’t about disingenuous compliments or manipulative tactics. It was about genuinely looking to serve, to solve someone’s problem, and to connect with people from all walks of life without judgment. He shared that he has personally spoken to tens of thousands of people over two decades. It’s a numbers game, whether online or offline, and you can’t get away from the law of averages.

The Power of High Expectations (and Handling the Inevitable Misses)

Anthony’s mentor instilled in him an “absolutely insane level of belief and expectation.” High performers often have what some call “unrealistic” expectations, but as Anthony explained, reality is subjective and produced in our minds. When expectations are incredibly high, life often performs at that level.

But what about when those high expectations aren’t met? This is where many can fall into a self-destructive loop. Anthony’s advice was profound: separate your identity from your achievement. “I’m not less valuable because I don’t hit a goal and I’m not more valuable if I do hit a goal,” he stated. It’s about setting big, inspiring goals as benchmarks for producing your best, and having the courage to reset and keep building when you don’t hit them on an arbitrary timeline.

Ultimately, it comes down to the love of the game. If your happiness is solely tied to a specific outcome, you’ll find an emptiness even if you achieve it. True fulfillment comes from the pursuit, the integrity, the relationships, and the impact you make along the way.

Your Next Step

Anthony’s story is a powerful reminder that there are multiple paths to success, and sometimes, the most effective ones are those less traveled. His commitment to authentic connection, relentless effort, and an unwavering belief in human potential—both his own and others’—is truly inspiring.
