In my interview with Nick Nalbach, he shared his secret to creating enticing podcast episodes: 7 questions that he calls the Hero’s Journey.
This idea came well after Nick had already started the podcast. The 7 questions are based on the Hero’s Journey.
Answer them and your content creates itself:
- Who is the main character?
- What does the main character want?
- Why can’t they get what they want?
- What are the stakes? What will happen if they don’t get what they want?
- Who or what helps them? It could be your course, your book, or your podcast episode. Who or what will help them achieve what they want to achieve?
- How do they get what they want? What are the steps, what was the process that took someone from A to B, or what are the modules in your course to get you to where you need to be.
- What is the transformation? What is their life going to look like, after they’ve listened to the episode, taken the course, or taken the steps? You already know what they want, now you have to figure out what’s going to get them there.
When marketers say “You need to get your messaging right”, this is what they mean!
Nick has these 7 questions on a piece of paper before every podcast episode. And he answers these questions before recording it, to make sure he hits all the points and delivers an enticing experience to his listeners.
