In the last article, we talked about the name CreateGrowProfit and what this methodology stands for.
And today in this article, let’s talk about a topic that every new online business faces. That is attracting prospects and potential clients.
Specifically, let’s talk about attracting clients through content marketing.
What is Content Marketing?
What is content marketing and why should you even do it?
First of all, Content Marketing means creating interesting, helpful, or even entertaining content that you publish online for free for as many people as possible to see.
When done correctly, Content marketing will increase your authority and position you as an expert in your niche.
So content marketing is definitely a long-term game or medium-to-long-term.
It’s not like paying for ads where you can just turn on the ads and get traffic or even cells immediately. With content marketing, it’s going to take time for your audience to take note of you and for you to prove yourself as a knowledgeable expert.
Also, you can create any type of content that you want.
Different Types of Content
- If you prefer to write content, you can:
- Write articles on Medium or on your own blog.
- Go on Twitter or Reddit just anything that involves written content or even platforms like Quora.
- There is audio content which is a podcast or even to some extent YouTube videos. For example, you were to show some slides or just show some b rolls while talking over it naturally.
- There is also video content where you talk to the camera or create your very own videos and when talking about videos
- There is long-form content which is usually 5 minutes or 10 minutes plus
- And then there is short for content where you create short videos between 3 seconds up to 2 minutes or even below 5 minutes depending on who you ask
- And finally, there are images and photos and visuals. For example, if you enjoy sketching and drawing infographics or if you have a lot of photos to share or if you just enjoy credit images in general.
Creating and Publishing Content
In this article, I want to talk about it but I personally believe is the overarching most important factor to your success in content marketing and that is if you can create a daily ritual where you will create your content.
So if you’re just starting out with your content marketing, I highly recommend that you just pick one of these types.
Pick one type of content marketing and one or two platforms where you publish posts, and share your content.
Your very first goal should be to build a habit around this process. One of the very best habits to build, one that will help you with all types of content marketing is writing.
I believe long term you will reap the most benefits if your very first goal is setting a time every single day when you will write instead of:
- Worrying about how many people react to your content
- What type of content works best in your niche and your audience
- Or which content attracts the most clients
You can write for anything between 20 minutes and 50 minutes but starting out I think 30 minutes is a really really good spot.
Here’s what you need to do:
- Set a specific time in your day
- Sit down
- Turn off all distractions
- Do this every day at the same time
This is how you feel your ritual and this is how you will turn this ritual into a solid habit.
Why do they recommend writing?
Writing does many many great things for us. We can turn that into:
- A script for a podcast for a video
- Turn it into an article on Medium or on our block
- Split it up into different tweets
- We can create infographics pictures or take photos and direct a message on the photo
For example, this daily writing ritual will also be another thing for that is crucial for Content marketing and that is consistency. It is not enough to just create one or two incredibly interesting helpful or even entertaining pieces of content.
When your audience sees your profile on social media, for example, or day visit your block or your podcast or YouTube channel more than anything. They want to see that you working and that you’re committed to this.
So, someone who’s been uploading and sharing regularly is clearly committed.
Individual which already increases your perceived authority and if you are committing and sticking to your daily writing ritual, you will automatically become consistent because you will have new content to share every single day, and if not every single day then surely a couple times per week.
All thanks to your daily writing ritual.
So let’s say, you want to jump on the trend with short-form video content which is extremely popular on TikTok and Instagram with reels and such.
Now, imagine you have set a time during the day when you will sit down and write for 30 minutes and you’re doing this every single day.
The amount of content that you will have to offer ramps up day by day and you should be able to create two or even three Reels per week that you can upload to Instagram and each reel is between 30 seconds and one minute short.
Then as your reel starts to gain more and more attention, people will check out your Instagram profile and then they will see an entire library of reels that you’ve uploaded over recent weeks.
This makes you look committed and if you share helpful advice it will also position you as an expert or authority on the topic.
Having this position of an expert or authority is really important because that is what makes people:
- Click your links
- Check out your website
- Check your free offers
In essence, you first have to prove yourself before people are even going to trust your links and offers.
Now you will probably have two questions:
- What you should write? How can you be writing 30 minutes every single day? And not run out of things to say, that’s what we’re going to talk about in the next article.
- Another question is now that you’ve published all this content and it’s out in the world, how can you turn those visitors and Views into potential customers and buyers?
That’s what we will discuss and the next article or the article after that?
For now, I think it’s especially important if you’re just getting started with content marketing or if you don’t have a daily writing ritual set yet I think.
