I saw a story on Instagram where someone improved the social media campaign of one of her clients and the results were fantastic! And I am lucky because I got the chance to talk to the person behind that success.
In this article, I will be sharing the interview I had with her that explains what social media is and the three things you must do in order to succeed.
Lisa Sicard
- Blogger and Social Media Specialist from Maine, USA.
- Has almost 30,000 followers on Twitter
- Has 1,600 followers on Instagram
- She has an active community of readers on her blog
- Owner of Inspire to Thrive
Inspire to Thrive
According to Lisa, she started Inspire to Thrive over a decade ago. She was managing a medical scrub retail site and was on Twitter where she made the biggest sale from a tweet.
It was about the NCAA Tournament and the medical scrubs that were on the website were NCAA-branded with different teams. There was a doctor from Texas who saw his favorite team on their online store and it made the biggest purchase, and from there she started to make more sales through Twitter.
And when that happened, people started asking her questions and getting emails and phone calls to know how she did that. But instead of answering all the calls and emails, she thought of another way to share her knowledge and that is by starting doing blogs.
Little did she know that it would take so much time to work on that and she didn’t envision that her blog would actually turn into a business.
Lisa’s focuses are the following:
- Social Media
- SEO
- Blogging
Because she was running her website that’s why she needed to learn SEO. And as she made mistakes, she was blogging about those mistakes to help other people online. That’s where Inspire to Thrive came from.
Lisa as a Solopreneur and a Creator
She calls herself a Solopreneur because she wears many hats.
She considers herself a Social Media Time Saver because a lot of her clients don’t have time to deal with their social media accounts so she’s the one doing that for them.
She is also a Creator because she’s always in Canva creating something for social media or blogging.
How Important Social Media and Blogging Are?
Lisa says social media and blogging are very important in every business.
Blogging is great for the following reasons:
- It makes sharing things on social media easier through blogging.
- It is great for your customers to learn about your business.
For example, you own a real estate company that likes to recruit agents so you should have a blog about:
- The life of a real estate agent
- Why would you want to be a real estate agent
- 100 topics around real estate agent
She likes to call it Useful Content, content that she can share on social media. She believes that blogging and social media go hand in hand.
She also believes that SEO will not disappear because of the advance of AI or Artificial Intelligence. She said that it can be a tool that can be used in conjunction to do the SEO just like with writing where you can use an SEO Tool but you really have to edit.
As a matter of fact, she also has her favorite AI Tool called RightBlogger. She said that she was working on a post about Twitter “How the blue subscription service you’re able to hide your badge?”, and when she tried to input some data like title, post, etc., RightBlogger still had some old information and didn’t have the newer information which is a big minus with all the AI.
Any of the AI Tools, seem to have data that was a year ago. They don’t have the last week or the latest data.
You can use it for certain things but you can’t rely on it 100% by any means. It does help you write content quicker but you have to check all the stats, facts, and any links they provided.
Social Media Campaign Example
Earlier I mentioned that I saw her story on Instagram and here’s a detailed story of what it is.
According to Lisa, it was a project from a local carpet store in Rhode Island and they had a very small Facebook presence when she first met with them. She started working on their Instagram page because they have a lot of remnant carpets that are perfect for dorm rooms for college students.
Lisa believes that Instagram’s audience is younger than Facebook, especially today. It took them some time to grow their Instagram presence but it’s finally getting there. While their Facebook page grew pretty quickly by:
- Boosting
- Ads
- Being consistent in posting (three times a week)
You just need to be more creative and creative. Just like today when we have Reels, Lisa is spending some time in Canva to create Reels for their social media pages.
She found the testimonial given by his client fascinating because he was glad that Lisa was able to help them read his Google Analytics so he could understand all the marketing of this business. His client has been doing TV, radio, newspaper, Facebook, and Instagram, and he can clearly see where the traffic is coming from.
Lisa is also in charge of Google My Business now called Google My Place where she does postings on there every week.
Lisa’s Recommendation
Number One: Stick to ONE to TWO networks.
With all the constant changes on a particular network, she recommends sticking to one or two networks in the beginning. Depending on your audience, you can choose from a variety of networks and focus on that. It can be on:
- YouTube
Number Two: Remain Consistent.
Once you have figured out what network you want, the next step is just to be consistent on it.
What’s Next For Lisa?
For this year, Lisa is looking forward to:
- Learn more about SEO
- Generate passive income through Affiliate Programs
- As well as sponsorships
- Two other blogs
The second blog is her small business blog, Small Biz Tipster, which has been there for a few years now but isn’t doing great because she wasn’t focusing on SEO.
The third blog is Rural Area Life which she started when she moved up to Maine. It was just a fun blog because she’s taking a lot of photos there and she’s doing this without any socials.
This is actually her next big project: Focus on SEO and not promoting it to any social networks as much as possible.
She is just posting there once a week but sometimes, at least every two weeks.
Lisa is into YouTube as well. She has done a lot of videos in the past two months and she’s having fun creating short and long videos. She’s also using a service, an AI Tool to make blog posts into videos.
She actually hired someone to do that for her, and according to her, she does an excellent job. Her animation creator is Julie from newhorizons123.com.
