Why Do Influencers Never Run Out Of Content Ideas?

YouTube Subscribe

Influencers seem to never run out of things to post on their social media profiles, YouTube channels, and blogs.

But if you’re a new coach who wants to get clients online, then one major challenge is coming up with topic ideas.

And not just any topics, but topics that your audience will actually be interested in.

So what do you think? How do these influencers do it?

From my personal experience, having worked with several influencers and also working in the digital marketing industry for a decade, here’s what I’ve discovered:

The best and most consistent content creators, prepare their content ahead of time.

Of course, there are levels to this like:

  1. Solopreneur
  2. Branded Influencer

But at its core, the strategy is the same and I want to show how YOU can do that starting today.

Keep reading and let me help you have infinite content ideas like the big influencers do it.

Three Phases in Content Marketing

There are 3 Phases in Content Marketing that you need to know:

  1. Writing the topic or title
  2. Creating the content
  3. Uploading, publishing, and promoting it

If you’re like me back then, then you probably think: “Yeah, Yeah, I’ll just do it all on the same day.”

No! At the very least, try this for a week. Just give it a try and see for yourself.

So basically, it is something like this:

  1. Spend one day per week researching topic ideas and writing titles.
  2. Spend another day creating your content.
  3. And the remaining days of the week, spend on uploading, scheduling, publishing, and promoting your content.

This is actually a good start but that’s still not gonna solve your problem of finding content ideas.

So let’s talk about that now.

To begin with, you need to have a Google Sheets and add all your topic ideas there.

What are Google Sheets used for?

1. Do not write down generic or vague topic ideas.

Google Sheet Logo

If you think having a Google Sheet is not that important then you are wrong. This is really a big deal.

On your Sheet, write down the exact questions that someone asked you or you’ve seen someone ask online.

I cannot stress enough how important it is to collect specific questions instead of broad topic ideas.

For example, a content idea like “landing page tips” isn’t really gonna help me create a video right at that moment.

Vague topic ideas like that only make me have to start:

  1. Researching
  2. Narrowing it down
  3. Finding a good hook
  4. Then only after 30 minutes, I can actually start creating anything

But everything is different if you have a specific question in front of you.

Take this as an example,

“Why do influencers never run out of content ideas?”

With that, I can just dive straight in and answer that particular question.

Also consider this: For any topic, you can find seemingly infinite questions. Even though these questions are on the same topic, they are all slightly different.

In this particular article, I’m answering the question WHY big influencers can keep posting content non-stop.

But the broad topic is actually on HOW to have content ideas.

Instead of covering the topic broadly, I choose to address one specific question.

In reality, there are endless questions about this topic. And each new question can be another video, Facebook post, Twitter thread, newsletter, and so on.

Again, Vague topic ideas are useless, but specific questions are content gold.

Write questions into your sheet where you can snap your fingers and start answering them. That’s what I meant when I said, to spend one day per week working on this list.

2. Do not delete questions from your sheet.

Even if you’ve already answered a question on your list, don’t remove it from the list.

I used to make this mistake all the time. Thinking that just because I’ve answered it already, I can’t answer it again in the future.

As time passes, you will find better answers or better ways to explain something.

That’s why you can always go back to earlier questions on your list and very often you’ll find that you could answer it better today than you did last time.

There is nothing wrong with covering the same topics multiple times, as long as you don’t post the exact same, duplicated content.

Just think about it:

For most people, it often takes many explanations to drive home a point. And it takes constant repetition to remind your audience of what’s important.

So don’t be afraid of covering the same topic many, many times. And not removing questions from your topics list is a great help for that.

As you keep adding questions to your sheet, it only gets longer because you never remove anything from it.

3. Do not paraphrase, use the exact words of the question.

As you’ll notice, the question for this video is: “WHY do influencers never run out of content ideas?”

The question isn’t: “HOW do influencers never run out of content ideas?”

When you add questions to your sheet of topic ideas, you want to be strict with the wording.

Here are some reminders for you:

  1. Don’t change the wording.
  2. Don’t paraphrase.
  3. Keep the question exactly as you heard it or read it somewhere online.

Why do you think it is important to not paraphrasing?

Let me tell you this, when I work with new coaches who start to market themselves online, there is one complaint that I hear all the time. They say that they give out so much free value, but nobody takes action.

But here’s the thing: If you don’t use the words that your audience uses, then they won’t connect with your content.

That’s why I advise against paraphrasing or spinning things in your own words.

So why do influencers never run out of content ideas?

Because they have at least one day per week where they focus on creating their content for the entire week.

And for you to start doing that, you need a list of topic ideas first.

  1. Excellent point about scheduling content Morris. I schedule blog posts for 13 days out. I intend to get that up to 2 weeks by doubling up one of these days. Write and schedule beforehand to keep the long form, detailed content coming. Many influencers build their empires on good old fashioned, thorough content that solves people’s problems.
